Summer vacations for me have always been fun and enjoyable. We have been to Washington DC, Gulf Shores, Alabama, Houston, TX and many other places over the years. But, over the past few summers our vacations have consisted of traveling to Shorthorn Junior Nationals. Junior Nationals are a fun time where people from all over the national convene on one city to show the best Shorthorns in the nation. There are also many contests that everyone competes in, like public speaking, salesmanship, and showmanship, just to name a few.
The first junior nationals I went to was in 2008 in Kansas City, MO. Then last year it was in Springfield, IL.. This year we get to make the 13 hour trip to East Lansing, MI for the 2010 National Junior Shorthorn Show. Junior nationals is the most fun summer vacation I have ever been on. And I have high hopes for the 2010 Junior Nationals to be the best!!!!

Hillbilly Jackpot
Last weekend was the Hillbilly Jackpot. It is the largest cattle show in Arkansas and it takes place in Harrison. It has 200 head of cattle with exhibitors from all over Arkasnas, Missiouri, and Oklahoma. Not only did we get to catch up with old friends but we also go to meet new people. In the show I had Grand Champion Shorthorn Plus, and my brother had Grand Champion Angus and Shorthorn Steers. Another great weekend, but I believe its time for a break. We are taking this weekend off!!!!!

Snowed In!!!!
The weekend before last (the first weekend of Spring Break) my family and I headed out to our favorite cattle show of the year, in Fayetteville. We were so excited to be there and with the 65 degree temperature we just knew that we were in for an AMAZING weekend. Little did we know Old Man Winter had other plans. On Saturday we woke up to find it spittin rain and colder than ever. As the day progressed it only got colder and the rain changed over to SNOW!!!! It snowed and snowed and snowed. I didn't think it would ever stop. We got up Sunday morning to more snow. Finally it stopped but not before dumping 14 inches on the lovely fairgrounds in Fayetteville. We finished showing on Sunday and decided that we were not going to try to make it home. Instead we stayed another night and got up on Monday morning and made it back it Harrison were the warm weather welcomed us home. All in all it was a good weekend. We still go to hang with all of our snowed in friends and had good times and memories to last a lifetime. As far as the show went, my new heifer won her breed all 4 shows and was a contender for top 5. My brother also had a class winner with his steers.

Choices.......
I am in my 4th semester at NAC and it is now time for me to move on to a 4 year university. I have always planned on going to the University of Arkasnas at Fayetteville, however I have recently saw the light and oppunrtunites at the College of the Ozarks. There are pros and cons to both, however my chances of getting into C of O and not as great as getting into U of A. It has always been my dream to gradutate from the U of A but it may be alittle far fetched. We'll see what happens. I better get on the ball though.

GOOD WEEKEND!!!
Last weekend we went showing in Lonoke, and I was a really really good weekend!!! I won Senior Showmanship in BOTH shows along with Grand Champion English Commerical Heifer. I also won Reserve Supreme Overall Heifer. It was a great weekend. We also got to spend time with some friends from down around Searcy. It was a blast. This weekend were on to Pocohantas, AR for another 2 shows!!! Hopefully it will be as good as last weekend!!
